     DUSTLESS FLOOR REFINISHING

More and more people are tearing up carpeting to enjoy instead the glowing beauty of the hardwood floor beneath.  In new homes the preference for wood flooring is up, and carpeting is down.

Drysdale’s 1-2-3 specializes in refinishing hardwood floors before they are so far gone that they require the agony of sanding.  There are many downsides to sanding wood floors:

Ø      Wood floors can’t be sanded more than three or four times before they are worn through.

Ø      With sanding you always end up with dust everywhere.

Ø      With traditional, oil based finishes (2-3 coats required) the odor is frequently so strong that the entire family chooses to move out and into a hotel while the job is being performed and the air is clearing.

The smart wood floor owner calls Drysdale's 1-2-3 before the finish is worn through, or before there are breaks in the finish.  The floor may look a little beat up, dull and worn, with scuffmarks and a few light scratches here and there.

Drysdale’s Dustless, low odor process goes like this:

STEP 1: Cleans, removes scuff marks, and, chemically “sands” the floor, abrading the old finish to receive a beautiful new topcoat.

STEP 2:  Conditions the abraded finish to be “zippered” permanently together with the new topcoat

STEP 3: Applies a unique waterborne coating superior to conventional  clear finishes, locking down a final diamond coat for beautiful lasting protection.

The newly refinished floor is ready for light use, such as walking, after eight hours.  Most furniture can be returned after three days.  The new surface is fully cured in seven days.

In a recent issue of Consumer Reports Magazine, the process and finish product we use was given the rating of excellent for finish quality,  very good for resistance to spill damage, and good for abrasion resistance.  No product, either water-based or solvent-based, scored higher.  The overall grade received was excellent.

In addition, our method was reviewed in depth by Peter Hotton in a recent Handyman Column in the Boston Globe.  Hotten was impressed with the process and stated that this methods results, "would be good for lots of years."
